Artistic Director

We are seeking a dynamic and visionary Artistic Director to lead our community gallery and performance space and foster a vibrant cultural hub for locals, artists and visitors alike. The Artistic Director will be responsible for curating exhibitions, programming events, and collaborating with artists to create a diverse and inclusive artistic environment.

The Orbost Exhibition Centre (OEC) Committee of Management, a community-run organisation with no ongoing funding, is leading an ambitious plan to create a financially sustainable future for the OEC, increasing our community impact and putting our region on the map. Our 7-person committee is supported by approximately 20 volunteers, keeping the doors open. The small paid team will include an Artist Director (new - 10 hrs/week) and Admin Support (existing - 10hrs/week).

You will be a community and strategic-minded person who values access to arts and culture, and understands the role it plays in creating social wellbeing and economic benefit. You will be able to develop strong, mutually beneficial partnerships, secure and generate exhibitions, events and performances that increase our activity and impact in the regional arts, tourism and social wellbeing sectors. You will champion the delivery of our Business & Strategic Plans, balancing the need to create revenue to secure our ongoing financial sustainability with our not-for-profit, community-led Mission and remit.

The Artistic Director will be required to work independently, leading a small team, proactively seeking guidance and liaising with nominated contacts from the Committee of Management as needed.

This is a part-time, fixed-term contract role, 10 hours per week over two weekdays until 31 December 2024. The potential to extend the role (both in terms of weekly hours and length of contract) is part of the Strategic Plan but depends on additional funding being generated and/or secured.

Refer to the attached Position Description for more information. The position must be carried out on-site at 8 Clarke St, Orbost VIC 3888

To apply submit:
